Welcome. This is a short explanation of what doilikethisipa is, what you can expect from us, and what we expect from you. It's not legal theater, it's what we actually mean.

What this is

doilikethisipa is a free web app that lets you take a photo of a beer and get a personalized recommendation based on your taste. It learns from your ratings. It's not a doctor, a nutritionist, or a licensed distributor. It's a taste recommender. It's run by one person.

Who can use it

You need to be 21 or older. That's the legal drinking age in the United States, and this app is built around helping adults decide which beers to drink. If you're under 21, please don't sign up. If we find out an account holder is under 21, we'll close the account.

By signing up you're confirming that:

• You are at least 21 years old
• The email address you provided is yours
• You're not going to abuse the service

What you can do

Sign up, scan beers, rate them, browse history, share beer links with friends. All free. No ads. No tracking beyond a basic sign-in cookie.

What we do with your stuff

We store:

• Your email address (so you can sign in)
• Your password, hashed (we can't read it, only verify it)
• Every beer photo you upload (so we can show you your history)
• Every thumbs-up or thumbs-down you give (so we can personalize recommendations)
• Your taste profile and dislikes (same reason)
• Your avatar if you upload one

We use all of this only to make your next scan smarter. We don't sell data to advertisers. We don't share it with third parties except our hosting provider and the Claude AI service that analyzes your photos. Full details are in the Privacy Policy.

What you can't do

• Scan stuff that isn't a beer and expect useful answers
• Try to hack us, spam us, or abuse other users
• Pretend to be someone else
• Scrape our database
• Use it if you're under 21

What we can't promise

• That the match scores are always right. They're AI guesses based on your profile. Take them as suggestions, not commandments.
• That a beer we recommend will be available at your local store
• That the app will be up 100% of the time
• That features won't change

Specifically, we cannot take responsibility for:

• Any physical reaction to a beer you drink based on our recommendation (allergies, intolerances, sensitivities)
• Any consequences of drinking alcohol (please drink responsibly)
• Injuries, illness, or anything else that happens in the real world. You're an adult and you make your own choices.

Basically: treat us like a friend with opinions about beer, not like a doctor or sommelier. Use common sense.

Drink responsibly

If you're going to drink, don't drive. If you're pregnant, don't drink. If you have a health condition or take medication, ask your doctor. If you think you have a problem with alcohol, we're not equipped to help, please call SAMHSA's National Helpline at 1-800-662-4357. It's free, confidential, and 24/7.

Closing an account

You can delete your account at any time from the Profile page. Deletion is immediate and permanent. We don't keep backups of deleted user data beyond 30 days (for disaster recovery).

We can also close accounts that break these rules.

Changes

If we change these Terms, we'll update the date at the top. Meaningful changes will get an email. Keep using the app after a change and you're agreeing to the new version.

Legally speaking

doilikethisipa is operated from the United States. Any disputes will be resolved under US law in the state where we're operated from. If you're outside the US, you're still welcome to use the app, but the same governing law applies.

These Terms are the whole agreement between you and us about the service. If a court decides one part is unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.
